@Joxman2k your optimism is appreciated, but we dont live in a democracy, we live in a polyocracy where the ealthy and powerful run everything. Stories like this prove it. I honestly expect the US to go borke and be subject to extreme political and social unrest in my lifetime (next 50 years). what would really keep this trainwreck on its rails?

Well I appreciate your pessimism/realism. Change does happen in our daily lives weather we realize it or not. We all are part of the system and to feel powerless helps nothing. Start laughing at the ridiculous … I really mean to say lighten up and see it for what it is. Our only real voice is our vote, it’s not just a right, it’s a responsibility.

the problem I have with this analysis is that it is almost entirely post hoc ergo propter hoc. Almost nothing in life is ever this simple. I would rather they talk to the people involved and find out their actual reasons.
@Joxman2k-I have started laughing at the ridiculous…great adviceBTW. My fundamental feeling is that our vote DOESN’T count. We are in a polyarchy where the popular vote is virtually irrelevant, we saw that twice with Bush. We have a center/left country that is convinced that we are going to socialism….We are SO much further right than the rest of the modern world and nobody even realizes it.

Funny how they try so hard to sneak in these provisions. The fact that Dodd is waiting until Blanche Lincoln is done with the primary so that his amendment won’t be contested is proof enough that the system is owned by outside interest. The corruption is too rampant, and I don’t even know that I hold the optimism that Cenk does for the future.

All that fearful energy from the election has been stolen by conservatives and they have manipulated many. Who would’ve thought a President wasn’t American, or that he wants to kill our Grandmothers?

The only ways I see are to educate ourselves and others, organize and protest based on the facts of that education, and laugh at people trying to manipulate by fear or anger.
